The International Association for Social Science and Humanities – (IASSH) and The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM), together organized the International Virtual Conference on Social Sciences (IVCSS 2020) on 31st July 2020 under the theme “Responses to the Pandemic: Social Protection, Resilience and Community Well-Being”. IVCSS 2020 was designed with the objective of providing a Virtual Conference experience maximizing opportunities for researchers to develop their career and engage in debates and discussions with the stakeholders pertaining to the field of study. The Conference comprised of researchers to together make a significant contribution by imparting and enhancing knowledge for the greater good of the community and the society at large.
The Conference Chair of the IVCSS was Prof. Steven Ratuva, Director, Macmillan Brown Center for Pacific Studies and Professor, Department of Anthropology and Sociology of University of Canterbury, New Zealand. The keynote speaker was Prof. Deepak Kumar, Former Professor of History of Science and Education, Z H Centre for Educational Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, India who spoke on “Social Science and Humanities: New Challenges and Thrust” and Dr. Tuhin Roy, Associate Professor of Khulna University, Bangladesh delivered his plenary speech on “Risk Perceptions and Responses of Covid-19: A Rural Scenario of Bangladesh.”
There were over 20 researchers representing 10 countries namely Malaysia, Pakistan, India, Ghana, Turkey, Russia, Sri Lanka, Japan, Philippines, and Nepal at the Conference. The IVCSS 2020 offered an inspiring and knowledge creating opportunity and participants presented their researches under 5 major tracks which were Technology, Morality and Conflict, Impact of Covid-19, Development and Conflict, Conflict and Peacebuilding, and Exploitation and Empowerment. A Publication Information Workshop was conducted by Mr. Isanka P. Gamage (Co-Founder & Managing Director – The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM), Sri Lanka), together with Ms. Yasodara Premarathna (Head of Publication at The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM), Sri Lanka) in order to enhance the knowledge of participants regarding publications as well as to discuss participants’ concerns setting up a platform for solutions.
