Dr. Tuhin Roy completed his Ph.D degree from the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies and obtained his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Sociology from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. In 2009 he joined as a lecturer of Sociology Discipline of Khulna University. Before joining in Khulna University, he was a part-time faculty member of Department of Sanskrit, University of Dhaka while he taught Introduction to Sociology. He also worked as a teaching assistant at BRAC University where he taught Bangladesh studies. In addition, he was also research associate of Banglapedia (National encyclopedia of Bangladesh) of the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh.

Recently, Dr. Roy published widely in the areas of development, sociology, disaster management, environmental politics, coastal health risk management and the vulnerable groups and their livelihoods. He has published books and many research articles from the national and international journals. His major book publication includes Bangladesher Muktiyudha: Dhaka o Calcutta Biswabidyalayer Obodan (Liberation War of Bangladesh): Contribution of Dhaka and Calcutta University from the University Press Limited (UPL, 2009), Bangladesh and Vulnerable Occupation and Poverty: A Study on Honey Collectors of Dacope Upazilla, Bangladesh from  Germany: VDM Verlag Dr Muller in 2011. In 2020, one of his book chapters has been published from the renowned publisher Springer entitled Disaster Risk Mitigation Strategies in the Southwestern Coastal Region of Bangladesh in the book of Urbanization and Regional Sustainability in South Asia.

In 2018, he received Overall Best Presentation Award and Session Best Award-2018, from the International Conference on Social sciences (ICOSS), Colombo, Srilanka. He writes popular articles in Bengali national dailies on various contemporary social issues. He also attended several national and international conferences, Symposiums and workshops as presenter, scientific committee member, session chair and plenary speaker. Bangladesh. He is the editorial member of some journals including JSS Journal of Science studies, iga KM@ pulutan sidore kotasolatiga, Jawa Tengah, Indonesia.  Dr. Roy is the life Member of Bangladesh Asiatic Society, Dhaka University Alumni Association, and Bangladesh Sociological Association. He is also adviser to the chairman of National Debate Federation, Bangladesh (NDF BD), and advisor of Noiayeek (Khulna University debate club). His passion for research and ongoing attachment to vulnerable people contributes to expound his social responsibility for people, community and environment.
